A E and Me

Tomorrow Aston turns one.

I can’t believe how fast his first year has gone. This time last year I was getting very nervous and excited (I had a planned c-section due to a previous rupture and not being allowed to labour because of it) I was not looking forward to the epidural but couldn’t wait to meet my new babe.

We haven’t had the best year, there have definitely been lots of ups and downs (more on that in another post) but we have made it through and have an amazing little boy.

Aston is a very head strong little dude who knows what he wants and doesn’t want. He is also very loving and happy and super sociable. He has been challenging in ways I didn’t experience with Esme but we wouldn’t have him any other way. He has only recently started crawling and is now enjoying getting into everything he can and is also a bit happier now he can get to things he wants and can follow us around.

Esme is besotted with him and loves to shower him in kisses in cuddles, whether he likes it or not!, though I’m sure as he starts to walk and get into her things her feelings may well change haha.

I write this on the eve of Aston’s first birthday. I’m currently sitting in his dark room rocking him to sleep because even though he has had 2 good naps today apparently he is exhausted and will not go to sleep unless I hold him. As I sit here I started off feeling a bit pissed off that he was almost one and I’m still having to do this sometimes (ok most nights, day sleeps he goes to sleep on his own and when he wakes in the night he goes back to sleep on his own too) Then I realised he will be 1 tomorrow. Still so little but growing so fast and it won’t be long before he won’t want to be hugged or kissed in public so I sit here and I will rock him while I can.
